USACE - Texas IDIQ Contract for Hydrographic Surveys and Related Services Various Locations, Texas
Our first contract for the Galveston District was to process hydrographic data. These datasets were processed using CARIS hydrographic software, and drafted using Microstation. Following the success of this initial program, we were awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide hydrographic surveying and related services.
Under the IDIQ contract, we conduct dredge support surveys within the Houston Ship Channel using DGPS, dual frequency depth sounders and on-site survey software. We process data and dredge volume information of pre and post dredge, examination surveys, and emergency clearance surveys in the Houston, Corpus Christi, and Port Arthur Ship Channels following hurricanes and other incidents (e.g. collisions and lost cargo).
Additional tasks performed include the development, installation, and tracking of GPS satellite tracking devices. These devices have been installed on both the Galveston Districts' own survey vessels and contracted dredging vessels. The vessel positions are polled every 30 minutes, 24/7 and displayed on a CARIS BEAMS application that is owned and operated by the Galveston District.
This method of interfacing GPS satellite tracking devices was initially unique to the Galveston District. It was designed jointly by TerraSond, the Galveston District and CARIS.
We use our equipment for these hydrographic surveys including GPS, single beam, multibeam, and sidescan sonar systems, hydrographic data processing software, and magnetometers. The hydrographic data is collected using HYPACK, QPS QINSy and Triton ISIS software. The data is processed using CARIS, and drafted using Microstation.
