TerraSond Performs Multibeam Bathymetric Survey in Captains BayAug 28, 2010 - TerraSond Limited

TerraSond Limited was contracted to conduct a multibeam bathymetric survey of proposed mooring area and anchor locations in Captains Bay, Alaska for the floating drill rig Kulluk, operated by Shell Oil. The objective of the survey was to delineate safe navigation zones within the proposed mooring area as well as analyzing the locations of rocky outcrops and shoals. The survey will allow for better determination of exact anchor positioning, mooring line configuration and tug/tow in logistics. An R2Sonic 400kHz multibeam system and a Coda Octopus F-180 inertial navigation system were interfaced with QPS QINSy 8.0 software for data collection.
