River Discharge Measurements

We have provided clients with river discharge measurements to determine navigability of a river, to study flood conditions, and to support harvesting renewable energy.

This data is usually collected with Acoustic Dopper Current Profilers (ADCP) which measure the speed and direction of the flows within the river. The instrument is moved across the river attached to a boat or raft and determination of the total flow is achieved.

Hydroelectric Turbine Sites for Alternative Energy Project
Yukon River, Alaska
Our staff conducted a geophysical reconnaissance of the Yukon River in Alaska to identify a safe and potentially productive installation site for an in-stream hydrokinetic turbine. This information enabled the client to better understand the resource available to the community for power production and to establish a cost and engineering strategy for future build out.
